As an employer, you may have heard about WorkKeys® and the National Career Readiness Certificate which is based on the WorkKeys® assessment, but aren’t sure how it could benefit you and your company.
One of the most obvious benefits of preferring WorkKeys®-tested candidates is that it can help assess job-seekers that you are considering for open positions. By asking for the National Career Readiness Certificate in your job postings, you are ensuring that candidates meet at least the minimum aptitude level you are looking for in that occupation.
The assessment measures skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, applying mathematical reasoning to work-related problems and setting up and performing work-related mathematical calculations.
There are three core modules that are used in the WorkKeys® assessment to determine an individual’s National Career Readiness Certificate level: Applied Mathematics, Locating Information and Reading for Information. Based on their scores in the three core areas, Individuals have the opportunity to earn a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum certificate.
You may also choose to utilize WorkKeys® testing as a subjective tool to guide in deciding promotion and/or salary increases for incumbent workers, or to determine training needs. The National Career Readiness Certificate can actually reduce employee turnover that is caused by the lack of skills.
Although the tool itself is standardized, how you use it in your company can be fairly flexible.
