Lawrence County Career and Technical Center provides training and education for any interested student in Lawrence County, grades 10-12. One of the most popular fields, Machine Tool Technology accounts for almost 20% of the County’s employment in various locations. LCCTC’s Machine Tool Technology shop prepares the students to be confident, capable and employable machinists.
The job of a machinist is to set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instrument. This includes fabricating, modifying, and repairing. Skill and patience play a vital
part in setting up and operating machine tools, checking accuracy of the work and adjusting machine settings to produce parts within tolerance. An operator will work on both computer-controlled and manual machines. Students are taught to meet precise specifications using machines for
Milling, Grinding, CNC and Welding.
Skills Acquired: Manual Drilling and Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Drilling
Machines, Band Saw and Cutting Machines, Manual Lathes and CNC Turning Machines,
Manual Milling Machines and CNC Machining Centers & Manual Grinders.
