Last month, MAGNET sponsored a workshop geared towards educating manufacturers in talent planning, a systematic way to target positions needed for growth. This workshop helped put things in perspective when it comes to writing job orders – how to determine the skills and characteristics needed for positions, both current and future.
The workshop demonstrated how to “mind map”, a process that’s used to represent thoughts, ideas, tasks and other items that lead to and are centered around an objective or topic, and something that is critical in planning for people growth.
One of the key elements of this workshop was that it focused on one subject matter and the hands-on aspect helped to really make things real for all of the participants.
This workshop was free and it was held at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center in conjunction with the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition.
Local companies attending these sessions were City Machine Technologies, Salem Welding Supply and Starr Manufacturing.
