Industry Needs You is an outreach campaign on behalf of the Industry Partners of Lawrence and Mercer Counties of Pennsylvania by the West Central Job Partnership of the Workforce Investment Board. The mission of the initiative is to stimulate interest in manufacturing careers among young people of Pennsylvania across multiple disciplines, and connect them with the opportunities available to them.
Manufacturing remains a major source of employment in this region and, contrary to popular opinion, many good jobs in manufacturing are still available. Skilled trades are the third most in-demand employment category — after engineering and nursing — in the United States. It is vital to the manufacturers in Lawrence and Mercer Counties, and to the economic development of the region, that we offer a well-trained, skilled workforce. To that end, we are using all the communications tools available to us to raise the profile of the types of jobs available in manufacturing, increase awareness of the career opportunities offered in manufacturing, and improve the image of this very viable, very satisfying career choice.
